Cream Pan

IMG_1889

Located in Tustin, Cream Pan is a Japanese bakery that offers a wide range of small eats, from savory things such as futomaki and steamed buns to pastries like croissants. Their most popular item is the strawberry croissant! There is an ample amount of custard and it’s just sweet enough to complement the fresh strawberries. The croissants remain flaky even if you leave them sitting on the counter for a majority of the day. They’re worth venturing out to get if you’re not in the area!

Margherita

They only make 73 of this World Pizza Cup winner a day! They make the dough by hand using caputo red flour and then proof them in napoletana wood boxes. For the toppings, they use san marzano tomatoes, sea salt, mozzarella, basil, and extra virgin olive oil.

Balsamic Pizza

Cal Italia

This pizza features four cheeses: asiago, mozzarella, gorgonzola, and parmesan. Croation sweet fig jam is distributed, topped with prosciutto, and then drizzled with a balsamic reduction, resulting in a wonderful sweet and salty combination. This was a gold medal winner on Food Network Pizza Champions Challenge!

A recipe so simple, you’ll be wondering why you haven’t tried making this already!

I didn’t put measurements for the ingredients because I don’t think there is an actual correct “serving size” for this heh. You could make this as a hors d’oeuvre, snack, appetizer, or even as a meal! It’s something you could easily make more of if you need a bigger portion, but also something you could keep in the fridge for a couple days if you end up with extra. (more…)

Happy 2015!!

Hope you all have been having a great year so far. The first post of this year goes to my favorite fast food place – In N Out! In fact, this is the only fast food I like.

Okay, let me be honest. ‘Like’ is an understatement because I actually LOOOVE this place!!

I may have a slight problem though because I’ve had In N Out SIX times in the past SIX weeks… yesterday being the sixth time l o l. Although it is on the healthier end of fast food, I think I should restrain myself before this streak becomes an unhealthy addiction. Gotta lose the belly I’ve gained over the holidays, after all!

But just look at that. Freshly baked buns, patties handmade with high quality (and never frozen!) beef, hand-leafed lettuce, real American cheese, and fresh tomatoes and onion.. How can you resist?! (more…)

Blue Line Pizza

This week was quite busy… in the sense of assignments, papers, meetings, and rain. Yup, no fun.

Did you all see how bad the weather was in the bay yesterday?

All those clouds gradually traveled down to SB last night and flooded my area too. I had neverrr seen it rain so much before! Winds went up to 40mph, so car alarms were randomly ringing and trees were falling in my neighborhood and on campus all night. Apparently, the rain went up to people’s knees, so some people took advantage of the weather and went kayaking in the streets LOL. As they say, when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade, right?

But the thing is, I’m not a rain person. Not. At. All. Rainy weather dampens my mood and makes life seem depressing and physically more difficult (walking, driving, etc). I just can’t make lemonade out of it! This week was already stressful in terms of school, so imagine my delight when it started raining here.

The only time I like it is when I’m dry and warm, indoors and in bed, with lots of blankets, hot tea/coffee, and Netflix. Ooh with some noodle soup too. Add some freshly baked sweet potatoes and brownies to all of that, and I’m in heaven~

It rained a little this morning, but it’s been gone for the day AND I’ve turned in all of my assignments so now I can finally say, HAPPY FRIDAYYY!!

Winter break is sooooo close, I can almost taste the cheese and cornmeal crust of my favorite pizza place in the bay…

Little Green Cyclo

I can’t say anything about this Vietnamese food truck’s main menu items (like their banh mi and garlic noodles) because I haven’t tried them, but I recommend getting their tater tots:

I know you’re saying in that head of yours ‘it woulddd be sweet potato...’
Don’t lie.

I didn’t make this post just to share my love for them.

Orrrr did I?
That..
You will never know hehe.

Himawari

Looking for a good place to get ramen?

Front: Miso Butter Corn Ramen Back:

Front: Miso Butter Corn Ramen
Back: Deluxe Tan Tan Men

Go to Himawari! The service is nice and the prices are very reasonable. Their ramen menu is big so you’re bound to find something you’ll like! Once you find a ramen you like, you choose your soup flavor: soy, salt, or miso. The regular toppings are sliced roasted pork, bamboo stems, and green onion, but you can add more toppings for an additional price.

Not a fan of ramen? Himawari also offers a bunch of cooked appetizers, salads, fried rice, rice bowls, and sushi rolls! The place is small though and it is quite popular, so be prepared to wait!
