Nutella Hot Chocolate

As October comes to an end, fall season has finally arrived in SB – with the morning air beginning to feel crispy, the skies getting gloomy, and the nights becoming too chilly to go out without a jacket. With fall season comes warm layers, comfy sweatpants, more Netflix in bed, and the oh-so-famous pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks (how can we forget?!).

Personally, their pumpkin spice latte tastes too artificial and sweet for me. You know what I’d rather have?

A cup of nutella hot chocolate.

“Honk, honk!”

This is a sound I hear almost everyday from “The Mexican Corn Man” as he walks up and down the streets of my neighborhood with a cart full of corn and mangoes. He usually makes a stop right outside my apartment, letting his presence be known loud and clear with his horn. For only $2, you can get a customized elote from this wonderful man. I equate the sound of his horn to that of an ice cream truck because it makes me feel all happy inside 🙂

Gochi Japanese Fusion Tapas

For those of you who don’t know, I am a HUGE Yelp addict. Reading reviews for all sorts of places, looking at pictures of food, and searching for hidden gems is one of my hobbies. I currently have 920 bookmarks.. yes, I might have a slight problem LOL. Every few months, I go through all of them to delete ones that don’t interest me anymore, but I end up finding other places so they keep adding up more and more. As much as I love to read other people’s reviews though, I rarely ever write one on the site myself. Today, I looked at my drafts for the first time in a while and found this one that I had basically completed but never uploaded:


Gyutan Kakuni

The first time I ever tried beef tongue was here at Gochi. This braised beef tongue was served with mashed potato butter gravy. Fast forward a little over two years to this day, and their beef tongue is still the only one I have actually enjoyed because it tasted like regular meat (with none of the chewiness that comes with tongue).  (more…)

  • Cake – is it moist or dry, baked properly, etc
  • Frosting – is it creamy or grainy, reasonable ratio to cake, etc
  • Flavor – flavor profile, level of sweetness
  • Quality – ex: real butter, high quality chocolate, etc
